What is the difference between Abroad and Overseas?

Abroad: A different country from one's own country.

It is formal and more common to use.

Example:

I have never lived abroad before.

Overseas: A different country from one's own country across the ocean.

Example:

I am Australian, but I studied overseas in America.

All overseas countries are abroad whereas not all abroad countries are overseas.
