1- Abstract and concrete nouns
Abstract nouns
They refer to things that cannot be touched or seen, as they do not have a physical existence. But can be sensed or felt. Examples: Feelings, Life and Fear.
Concrete nouns
They refer to things that can be touched or seen and have a physical existence. Examples: Dog, Tree and Apple
2- Proper and common nouns
Proper nouns
They are individuals' names or places like countries. Examples: London, Ali and Eiffel Tower.
Common nouns
They are names of things that are known among people. Examples: Table, Car and Birds.
3- Collective nouns
They describe a group of people or things as a single unit. They can be used as singular or plural nouns, depending on the meaning. Examples: Tea, Family and Crew.
4- Pair nouns
They refer to a pair of a thing. We deal with them as plural nouns. Examples: Glasses, Pants, Scissors and Socks.
5- Compound nouns
They consist of two or more nouns to form one word. Examples: Father-in-law, Swimming pool and Sunglasses.
Note:
Proper nouns are always capitalized no matter where they come in a sentence, whereas other types are only capitalized at the beginning of a sentence or after a period.
