There are several tenses used to express the future in the French language. In this lesson, we explored the differences between these tenses and when and how to use them.

Future Tenses in French:

Future Proche - Le futur proche:

Used to express an action about to happen or considered certain in the future.

2- Certain future action:

Example:

Next year, I am going to the United States.

Le mois prochain, mon oncle va prendre sa retraite.

Next month, my uncle is going to retire.

Simple Future - Le futur simple:

- Used to express an action or event happening in the near or distant future. It is employed to discuss projects and future facts.

Examples:

Quand je serai grand, je serai professeur de langue.

When I grow up, I will be a language teacher.

J'espère qu'il fera beau la semaine prochaine.

I hope the weather will be nice next week.

Future Anterior - Le futur antérieur:

Formation: "avoir or être" in the simple future + past participle.

Used to express the precedence of an action or event over another in the future or to indicate the completion of an action in the future.

1- Expressing precedence:
