The Near Future (Le futur proche):

The near future (Le futur proche) expresses an event or action that will happen in the near future. It is also used for upcoming events that will occur in the near or non-distant future. The near future (Le futur proche) is always used in spoken language.

How to form the near future (Le futur proche):

To form the near future, we use "Aller" in the present tense (le présent) and the infinitive (l'infinitif) of the verb to be conjugated.

Example with the verb "to go" (aller):

When do we use the near future (Le futur proche)?

The near future is used to express:


1- Changes that will occur in the future:

Example:

Marie et Pierre vont se marier la semaine prochaine.

Marie and Pierre are going to get married next week.


Sophie est enceinte, elle va être maman.

Sophie is pregnant; she is going to become a mother.


2- Immediate or imminent future:

Example:

Attention, tu vas tomber !

Be careful; you are going to fall!


Dépêche-toi ! On va être en retard.

Hurry up! We are going to be late.
